After the COVID-19 pandemic, the labor market in the UAE has been progressively improving, with significant demand for mid-level to senior roles.
As the economy picks up steam, businesses seek to increase their operations and employees. Companies from a variety of industries are looking to fill open positions. When medium- and large-sized businesses grow, they search for talented people to join their workforce.
According to a survey conducted by the UAE employment portal Bayt.com and market research firm YouGov, almost 70% of UAE businesses intend to recruit new employees to their personnel in the year 2023.
Sales executive, accountant, and admin assistant are among the top positions that businesses will be filling in the upcoming three months.
According to the joint Middle East Job Index Survey conducted by Bayt.com and YouGov, companies in management consulting industries reported to be recruiting the most people followed by retail and consumer goods.
Employment Trends in the UAE
According to Bayt.com and YouGov, half of all businesses surveyed expect to hire no more than five new employees over the next three months, while 25% expect to hire six to ten.
According to the survey, 20% of UAE employers aim to hire sales executives over the next three months, followed by 18% of businesses wanting to hire accountants and 16% of businesses looking for administrative assistants.
In the UAE, about 35% of businesses in the advertising, marketing, and public relations sectors hire or keep exceptional talent. It ranks it as the industry with the best talent retention, ahead of real estate, infrastructure, and property investment (33%) and banking and financial services (31%).
The real estate, mechanical manpower supply, and property development sector in the UAE ranks #1 for hiring Emiratis, with 37% of businesses in this area doing so. According to the poll, advertising, marketing, and public relations are the fields that entice recent graduates and female talent the most.
Since international corporations continue to show an increased probability of recruiting in the Mena region, there is a great need for skilled manpower in the corporate sector. And due to the government’s monetary and fiscal policies, the UAE labor supply has successfully recovered from the coronavirus-caused slump.
According to a separate survey conducted in May by the California-based technology corporation Cisco, nearly 90% of UAE employees are interested in working remotely in the future, whether it may be partially or entirely.
According to the survey, employers will specifically look for individuals who have strong Arabic and English communication skills, but soft skills like teamwork, leadership and the capacity to function under pressure are also valued.
Professionals must concentrate on developing necessary skills, such as teamwork and communication, while businesses must create opportunities for those who lack those skills, take measures to enhance the capabilities of competent workers, and commit to ongoing skill development.
The survey was taken between June 9 and August 1, 2022. UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Sudan are a few of the main markets in the Mena area that were covered.
